3D: The Third Dimension

3D Design

3D computer graphics is one of the most rewarding design spaces. You can use three dimensional graphics in many ways. For instance, you can create photo realistic scenes or convey abstract ideas in an accurate way.

Moreover, computer generated images straddle the boundaries of fine art. For example, sculpture and painting could be considered aspects of computer generated design. Additionally, computer graphics combine computers, geometry, color theory, and physics into an exciting form of expression. Furthermore, computer graphics push the limits of technology. In other words, 3D computer graphics are the bleeding edge of artifice.

Blender 3D Software

Blender is a computer graphics software. I like Blender for a few reasons. Firstly, Blender puts professional software in the hands of  people for free.  Additionally, Blender is open source. Secondly, Blender frequently iterates with new features. For example, the 3.0 release contains tons of improvements. For instance, an asset library was added and the rendering engine was improved. Over all, Blender is a powerful and well maintained piece of software.

Studies

In these studies I’m experimenting with different computer graphics techniques. For instance, geometry nodes, textures, and smoke simulations. Correspondingly, combining the classic elements of design with these novel tools. Furthermore, I’ve already used 3D design to expand upon my projects. For instance, I used some of my renders for wallpapers in qtile-chameleon. In conclusion, I find 3D graphics to be quiet useful and interesting.
